FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aqueous composition of an alkaline cleaner for treating a metal substrate. Aqueous alkaline composition contains an iron cation and a molybdenum cation in amount of 10–400 ppm in relation to total weight of composition and alkaline component, wherein pH of composition is at least 10 and it includes not more than 50 ppm of phosphate with respect to total weight of composition. Also disclosed are treatment systems containing an aqueous alkaline composition for treating at least one portion of the substrate, and a pretreatment composition for processing at least one portion of the substrate. Disclosed are substrates treated in accordance with disclosed processing systems.
EFFECT: iron from the aqueous alkaline composition of the invention is deposited on metal surfaces in the form of metallic iron and provides higher efficiency of the composition for preliminary treatment, improved protection against corrosion and positively affects adhesion.
