SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control of illumination source for illumination of road along which vehicle moves. Result is achieved by that the system comprises one or more roadside lighting sources configured to emit illumination for illuminating at least part of the road; one or more detectors configured to detect the value of one or more vehicle parameters moving along said road or that part of the road, one or more parameters comprising a vehicle type and/or an identifier of one or more vehicle users; and a controller configured to control illumination emitted by said one or more light sources, wherein the controller is adapted to adapt the illumination depending on the detected values or values of said one or more detected parameters.

EFFECT: technical result is providing an adaptive road lighting system.
