FIELD: oil, gas and coke-chemical industries.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of treating underground formations, such as hydraulic fracturing of a formation and prevention of sand inflow into a well, and in particular use of light polymers made from cashew nut shell liquid, as a proppant used to wedge cracks in the process of hydraulic fracturing, or in form of granular material using methods of preventing sand ingress into the well, such as gravel packing and performing hydraulic fracturing with installation of gravel filters. Method of fracturing a subterranean formation is characterized by introducing into a formation under pressure sufficient to create or increase fractures in the formation, a hydraulic fracturing composition containing a carrier; as well as polymer particles obtained from cashew nut shell liquid, polymer particles having an expected specific density of less than about 2.4.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency of hydraulic fracturing of formation and prevention of sand supply to well.
