SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mainline pipeline transport and can be used for protection of pump units of the main pipeline against unacceptable excess pressure of the pumped medium at the pipeline section before the place of installation of these pump units. Device comprises a damping coupling with end parts arranged in its inner cavity of symmetrically arranged relative to each other Z-shaped supply and receiving compensator inserts, a pressure regulator installed in the receiving compensator insert, a discharge pipe with a check valve connected by one end to the damping coupling approximately at the level of the connection point of the terminal parts of the supply and receiving compensating inserts, and by the other end – to the discharge reservoir.
