FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to use of particles of polyolefin with ultrahigh molecular weight as proppants for treatment of underground formations, as well as to compositions containing said particles, and to methods of hydraulic fracturing of formation using said particles. Said polyolefin particles, having a viscosity-average molecular weight in range of 0.8×106 to 12×106 g/mol and bulk density of 0.2–0.7 g/ml, have sphericity of at least 0.5.
EFFECT: using this proppant does not require high rates of proppant pumping into the well, less mass of proppant is required to achieve any desired geometry of the fracture, which saves energy and transportation costs and reduces the impact on the environment.
