FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of transparent ceramic materials with a yttrium-aluminum garnet structure doped with erbium and scandium ions of a cubic structure Er:YAG(Sc), having properties for use as luminescent scintillation materials, intended for scanning systems of medical high-speed computed tomography, x-ray units and gamma radiation plants. Initial solution of yttrium, aluminum, erbium and scandium chlorides is prepared, evaporated to concentrated state, sprayed in solution of settling agent – basic solution of aqueous ammonia to obtain precipitate – precursor. Filtered precipitate having a homogeneous composition of the cubic solid solution is dried and calcined at temperature in range from 800 to 1,000 °C, is pressed by isostatic compaction into compact of preset shape with density of 55 % of theoretical density. Further, obtained compact is sintered in vacuum at temperature of 1,700–1,750 °C, degree of vacuum of 10-5 Pa.
EFFECT: obtaining transparent ceramics with light transmission of up to 85 % and improved scintillation parameters: irradiation area 540–700 nm, light output 56–74 % relative to CsI:Tl, pulse duration 53–44 ns.
