FIELD: production of casting moulds.

SUBSTANCE: binder system for refractory materials used in sand casting processes, in particular two-component binder systems based on polyurethane, used in the method of making rods in cold boxes or a method using cold curing, characterized by a lower degree of interaction of metal with the mould. Method production of moulds and rods for metal casting involves the following stages: providing system of organic binder and refractory moulding material, wherein the organic binder system is presented in the form of three components which are not combined until use, wherein the third component contains at least alkyl orthoformate; mixing at least first two components of organic binder system with refractory moulding material to obtain mouldable mixture for foundry production; moulding a mouldable mixture for moulding into a mould or a rod and curing of the moulded mould or rod.

EFFECT: binder system is disclosed to reduce interaction of metal with mould.
