FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of determining a working point of a hydraulic machine and to an apparatus for realizing said method. Method enables to determine the operating point of the machine in the operating range in question, such as the turbine mode, and includes steps of: a) determining two coordinates (N'11, T'11) of the first row of potential operating points of the orientation machine relating to the guide vanes, b) measuring the machine rotation speed and c) determining the torque generated by the water flow in the machine. Method further includes steps of d) calculating two coordinates (N11, T11) of the second series of potential operating points of the machine depending on the rotation speed measured at step b) and the torque determined at step c), and e) deriving two coordinates (N11_real, T11_real) of operating point, which belongs to both first and second rows in said machine operating range.

EFFECT: group of inventions is aimed at creation of efficient method, which can be implemented in conditions of low water drop.
