FIELD: glass.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cut precious stones based on luminescent glass composition containing silicate, borate or phosphate base, and oxides of rare-earth elements in amount of 2–2000 mg/kg of glass composition, which enables to identify cut precious stones, which are excited by electromagnet radiation fluoresce in the wavelength range from 300 to 3000 nm. Alloying substances function as "markers of authenticity" of precious stones and enable their identification by means of a portable analyser.
EFFECT: method of identifying such cut gems involves excitation with electromagnetic radiation, detection of generated fluorescence and, if necessary, comparing the signal with a given reference sample.
