METHOD FOR PREVENTION OF MAJOR SAPHENOUS VEIN INJURY IN TRAUMATOLOGIC OPERATIONS ON LOWER ONE-THIRD OF SHIN Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B8/06

Abstract RU 2717602 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ultrasonic diagnostics, and can be used for prevention of large saphenous vein injury in traumatologic surgeries on lower one-third of shin. Ultrasonic examination is performed in preoperative preparation or directly on an operating table using a portable ultrasound apparatus. During the examination, the sensor is placed on the anterior edge of the medial malleolus along the major saphenous vein without pressing on the skin. Then, the sensor is pressed onto the skin, after which the sensor pressure on the skin is stopped and the examination is carried out in colour Doppler mapping (CDM) mode. Presence of blood flow and its direction are determined. Sensor is re-applied on the skin. If the image of the vessel disappears on the screen and the blood flow stops on the screen when the skin is pressed with a sensor, a conclusion is made on the placement of the sensor on a large saphenous vein. That is followed by marking the skin with a blunt instrument along the greater saphenous vein. After developing dermatography, a marker is marked with a marker. After the mark is marked, an operation is started if the examination is carried out directly on the operating table. Mark remains until the moment of operation if the examination was performed in the preoperative period.

EFFECT: method provides the prevention of the great saphenous vein injury in traumatologic operations on the lower one-third of the shin due to accurate determination and marking of the vein.
