FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for rapid quantitative analysis of at least one process stream of a urea synthesis process, in which urea is synthesized from ammonia and carbon dioxide under pressure in range of 100 to 300 bar and temperature in range of 50 to 250 °C. Method involves using Raman spectroscopy for said rapid quantitative analysis. Concentration of urea in the process stream is determined by Raman spectroscopy and by recording the spectral band corresponding to the carbonyl-di-amide bond excitation. Concentration of carbon-containing molecules other than urea and containing a carboxyl group is determined using Raman spectroscopy corresponding to bonding in the carboxyl group. Also disclosed is a method of controlling a plant for synthesis of urea and a device for controlling and optimizing operation of a plant for synthesis of urea.

EFFECT: invention provides better optimization of the urea synthesis plant operation due to continuous monitoring of the composition of process streams.
