SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a wireless communication network and is intended to control the assignment of proxy devices, where proxies act as relay devices, sending signals from a device with limited resources to the target device. Method comprises steps of dividing the device identifier space with limited resources into at least two portions and assigning at least one of the at least two portions of the identifier space to the at least one proxy of the wireless communication network, where the proxy device assigned to the first part of the identifier space is responsible for the device with limited resources, transmitting the signal containing the identifier falling in the first part of the identifier space.

EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of managing proxy devices in a network.
