FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to abrasive-resistant material for working surface of cooling element of metallurgical furnace, such as plate cooler or tuyere refrigerator, having housing consisting of first metal. Abrasion resistant material is a macrocomposite material which contains wear resistant particles which are arranged in a substantially repeating ordered configuration impregnated with a matrix of a second metal, wherein the particles have higher hardness than the second metal. Cooling element for a metallurgical furnace has a housing consisting of a first metal, wherein the housing has a facing layer containing an abrasive-resistant material. Method includes arrangement of ordered configuration of wear-resistant particles in cavity of mould with location of ordered configuration in cavity of mould, which forms facing layer, and introduction of molten metal into cavity, at that melted metal contains first metal of cooling element housing.
EFFECT: longer service life of working surface of cooling element of metallurgical furnace.
