FIELD: marine equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to marine equipment and extraction of minerals on sea shelf in arctic conditions. Disclosed is a method of preventing displacement or destruction of a marine structure as a result of the field of drifting ice, proposed method consists in installation of ice-class ship arranged in front of offshore structure and equipped with, at least, one screw steering column. At that, with the main propulsor or propulsors operating in the stern and with the nose screw-and-steering columns, reciprocal movements of the vessel along its centerline plane (CL) are performed, by moving the drifting ice floes towards the ship both ways and directing them bypassing the sea hull structures. At the same time vessel is used, having length of CL not less than width B of offshore structure, and arranged it, orienting CL of vessel at an angle α of 45–75° to ice drift direction. Said vessel is placed from offshore structure at distance S equal to 0.7–0.9 of ship length.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase efficiency of protection of sea structure from force action on it of field of drifting ice floes and to prevent its displacement or destruction.
