FIELD: pipelines.
SUBSTANCE: method of inspecting a piece of pipe having a pipe wall and a nominal inner diameter, comprising providing a flaw detector configured to extend along a pipe length, wherein the flaw detector is provided with a substantially circular "from inside to outside" sensor of capacitance tomography sensor, having a diameter that is less than the nominal inner diameter; passing the flaw detector along the pipe section, thereby determining annular space between the sensor device and the pipe wall; performing measurements using a sensor device in a plurality of locations along a pipe length and obtaining from the measurements, for each of the plurality of locations, information on the interface surrounding the flaw detector.
EFFECT: additionally, flaw detector is provided for inspection of pipe section, in which flaw detector is equipped with "from inside to outside" sensor of capacitance tomography sensor.
