FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: method for ultrasonic flaw detection of workpieces with corrugated or uneven surfaces. An ultrasonic transducer with a multielement array functions with a considerable fluid layer, such as water, between the transducer with the array and the workpiece surface. Such fluid layer can be maintained by submersion of the workpiece, otherwise a column with a couplant between the probe and the workpiece surface can be used. The workpiece is scanned by measuring a two-dimensional surface pattern with the latch method, a laser or the ultrasonic method. After obtaining the precise surface pattern, data processing parametres are calculated for processing the ultrasonic signals reflected from internal volume of the workpiece.
EFFECT: eliminated effect of ray bending and incorrect positioning of a reflector that occurs otherwise because of uneven surfaces.
