METHOD FOR ASSESSING THE CONDITION OF INTERNAL NASAL VALVE Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B5/08 A61B5/107

Abstract RU 2719926 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology, and can be used for assessing the condition of an internal nasal valve in patients with a vestibular nasal cavity pathology. Internal nasal valve is analyzed in dynamics of conducted treatment using video systems. Its area is measured by obtained images and images are compared before and after treatment. Endoscopic examination is performed before, during and after the operation using a rigid endoscope of 0 degrees, which is placed inside the nasal cavity at 1 cm from the vestibule of the nose. DVD recording device is used to record the obtained endoscopic image of the internal nasal valve, store it in the jpeg format, and then on the computer. After that, using a computer program for analyzing and processing images of NoseSpace, first parameters such as focal distance of endoscope, size of endoscope matrix, distance of endoscope to internal nasal valve of patient. Then, on the stored image, using the function for measuring the area of the irregular figure, contour of the internal nasal valve is outlined and its area is measured to obtain the result in absolute units, in mm2.

EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy and reliability of internal nasal valve status determination due to individual internal parameters of internal nasal valve parameters required for adequate nasal breathing.
