DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR NASAL BREATHING DISORDERS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61F11/00

Abstract RU 2701134 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, particularly to otorhinolaryngology. General otorhinolaryngological examination is performed. Nasal cavity is examined endoscopically. Performing an anterior active rhinomanometry, an acoustic rhinometry, which are performed before and after the decongestant administration. That is combined with rhinoresistometry. Indices are determined for inhalation and exhalation phases both for each side of the nose and total. Parameters include such data as: nasal flow, intranasal resistance, coefficient of friction, hydraulic diameter, then on the basis of the indicators the degree of nasal obstruction, nature of intranasal flow, presence or absence of collapse of the nasal valve, its pathological or physiological effect on air flow formation, presence or absence of pathological constriction zones inside the nasal cavity. Values are evaluated in accordance with the nasal obstruction and obstruction classifications for each side of the nose. Thereafter, the values are differentiated into structural, functional and mixed components of nasal breathing disorder. Depending on this, a therapeutic approach is selected.

EFFECT: method enables high-efficiency and high-quality diagnostics of nasal breathing disorders ensured by assessing the complex of the most significant indicators.
