SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing an elastomer composition reinforced with silica fillers and to a method of producing tires for vehicle wheels. Method of producing elastomer composition (108) comprises at least one elastomeric polymer (102), reinforcing filler (103) based on silica and at least one silane coupling agent (104), wherein method includes: providing mixer (101) of periodic action, comprising mixing chamber, two rotors, arranged in mixing chamber, and piston located above rotors and made with possibility of displacement to two rotors and from them; feeding said components into a batch mixer; mixing components in a batch mixer and for a first predetermined time interval; complete discharge of portion of intermediate composition (105) from intermittent mixer; providing a double-screw conical mixer (201) having mixing chamber (202) provided with inlet (203) and outlet (204), wherein in the mixing chamber there are two conical augers (205); feeding portion of intermediate composition into a double-screw conical mixer; mixing the intermediate composition in a double-screw conical mixer; unloading of elastomer composition from double-screw conical mixer.

EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of a pair of machines consisting of a periodic action mixer used to disperse a silica-based filler in a polymer base, and from the corresponding unloading device interacting with it, while providing the given physicochemical properties of the obtained elastomer composition before and after vulcanisation, and specified performance characteristics of tire made using such composition, while maintaining limited total costs for production of elastomer composition, including costs for acquisition, maintenance, current repair and operation of used machines and production facilities.
