FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for measurement of lateral forces occurring at interaction of wheel of rolling stock with rail. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that on both sides of the rail neck in two vertical cross sections located in the inter-cavity gap, below the neutral axis of the rail there are installed in total eight strain gauges perpendicularly relative to the longitudinal axis of the rail and according to their readings, lateral force occurring at interaction of wheel and rail during wheel motion along rail-and-span span is calculated.
EFFECT: technical result is increased statistical reliability of side forces measurements from wheel-to-rail interaction.
