FIELD: rail transport.
SUBSTANCE: use: for detection of wheel defects, as well as for measurement of rolling stock impact on railway track. Summary of invention consists in the fact that measuring section of rail track is divided into three sections "A", "B", "C", at that, on measuring sections "A", "C" strain gauges are installed on rail neck on both sides oppositely and in pairs, forming strain-gauge block-sections located in gaps between sleepers, Note here that strain gauges are arranged at pitch "a" from 308 to 418 mm while sleeper sections are arranged at pitch "b" from 500 to 550 mm. Section "B" is intended for shifting the pitch of measuring zones, wherein distance "b1" between sleepers is from 300 to 550 mm, and strain gauges in this inter-cavity gap are not installed.
EFFECT: technical result: high accuracy of detecting defects in the surface of the wheel, increasing the length of the measuring zone, eliminating "blind zones" in which a large portion of the rolling surface of the wheel when passing through the measurement section will always remain outside the measurement zone.
