SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Technical result is achieved by a method of recovering and updating an SW on a smart card, wherein at the stage of initializing a smart card, the following operations are performed: recording the SW import component, the SW verification program component and the SW recording software component, on the smart card; internal storage area is reserved and cleared in the secure smart card memory; writing to the internal storage a public key for checking SW for the smart card and an initial time stamp SW; at the stage of using the smart card, the following operations are performed: using the SW import component, loading from the external storage SW to the RAM of the smart card the program module with SW for the smart card and sending it to the SW verification component, at the same time in case of successful completion of all checks the program module SW is sent to the recording component SW.
EFFECT: technical result consists in providing protection from the introduction on the smart card of malicious software (SW) in the process of updating and recovering the SW.
