FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to laboratory diagnostics and research activity, namely to bacteriology and virology. Cellulose plug is used for sealing of test tubes and flasks during sterilization, cultivation of microbiota, as well as for maintaining sterility in media after sterilization. Cellulose plug is made in the form of a cone, which narrow end is rounded or blunted, is made of bleached 100 % high-purity pressed fibre pulp, wherein the adhesive is hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, and the plug is impregnated with 1–2 % aqueous solution of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose. Method of manufacturing cellulose plug consists in feeding cellulose piece of required value to rotary spindle of winding machine, application of solution of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose onto workpiece, further rotation of plug for at least 2 seconds, removal from installation and drying for at least 24 hours.
EFFECT: plug made according to the invention provides increased number of cycles of using cellulose plugs due to maintenance of the plug at temperature of up to 250 degrees.
