FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to textured silicon steel. To reduce losses in iron and improve operational characteristics of steel on one or both sides of textured silicon steel (10) as a result of laser etching, parallel linear grooves (20) are formed. Linear grooves (20) are perpendicular or located at an angle to rolling direction of plate steel. Maximum height of edge ledges of linear grooves (20) does not exceed 5 mcm, and maximum height of sprays in free from etching areas between adjacent linear grooves (20) does not exceed 5 mcm, and fraction of surface area occupied by spray in vicinity of linear grooves (20), does not exceed 5 %. Steel is characterized by low manufacturing costs, and the effect of etching for final steel is maintained during the annealing process to relieve stresses. Steel is particularly well suited for use in making transformers with a band spiral iron core.
EFFECT: reduced losses in iron and improved operational characteristics.
