SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an airbag assembly for a motor vehicle and to a vehicle with such a unit. Air cushion assembly comprises air cushion and unfolding shoulder configured to open with airbag, when airbag unfolds. Deployable ledge is configured to move from a retracted configuration, in which deployable ledge is laid with airbag prior to deployment, in stepped configuration when unfolded. Deployable shoulder comprises movable element configured to move, in response to deploying airbag, from the first position in the retracted configuration to the second position in the stepped configuration, the movable member is assembled such that the thickness of the deployable ledge increases, when movable element is in second position. Deployable ledge is located and profiled in a stepped configuration, to assist the air cushion over the vehicle component as the airbag unfolds.
EFFECT: higher safety due to deployment of airbag on top of component.
