SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicle recognition device and method for determination, single or double bus is installed on axle. For this purpose, the device has an optical sensor which recognizes at least one area of the rim on which the tire to be identified is mounted. Besides, an evaluation unit is provided, which is configured to determine the shape of the rim area based on the sensor signals and to generate a signal displaying the type of the tire, depending on the said shape.

EFFECT: technical result is improved identification reliability, single or double bus is installed on vehicle axis.
