FIELD: forestry.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for use in forest industry, namely for determination of areas of cross-sections of trunks in square meters per hectare of planted plantation. Method includes straightening the chain by pulling it out relative to the frame body to the required length, which enables to set the relascope frame body sight window at the required distance from the eyes of taxator with subsequent chain fixation in this position relative to the frame body. Taximeter performs the required measurements and records their results. Then, the action of the retainer ensuring continuity of the chain length measured from its free end to the frame body is switched off. Further, the free end of the chain is released.
EFFECT: method will reduce labor intensity of works.
