SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forestry and can be used at forest management and taxation wood-treating fund. The method of determination of the sums of the cross section areas of the growing stock includes the determination of the sums of the cross section areas of visible part of trees using the Bitterlich angle gauge. In addition the sum of the cross section areas of hindering plants is determined, using which the sum of the cross section areas of invisible part of trees is determined, and the total sum of the cross section areas of growing stock is determined by adding of the measured sum of the cross section areas of visible part of the growing stock and the sum of the cross section areas of invisible part of trees, which is determined by the correlation obtained from the regression equation.

EFFECT: method ensures improvement of accuracy of determination of the sums of the areas of section of trees at presence of essential hindrances as underwood, and also in connection with low crones of adult trees.
