FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diagnostics of pantographs of vehicles. Device for diagnosing faults of locomotive current collectors consists of position sensor installed on contact wire. Position sensor includes a microcontroller, a three-axis accelerometer and a three-axis gyroscope for determining change in position coordinates fed from a battery with a power stabilizer. Microcontroller is configured to process and compare data of change of coordinates, position and when exceeding maximum permissible values of coordinates changes generate alarm signal on fault of current collector of locomotive and transmit information via radio module and antennae to receiving unit interfaced with Ethernet network, with its subsequent delivery to energy dispatcher.

EFFECT: technical result consists in possibility of timely detection of faults of current collectors of locomotives.
