METHOD FOR SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF ARTHROSIS OF ATLANTO-DENTAL JOINT Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B17/56 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely traumatology-orthopedics and neurosurgery, and can be used for surgical management of arthrosis of atlanto-dental joint. Method includes right- or left-sided lateral cervical approach, puncture of involved cervical intervertebral disks under X-ray control. Puncture is performed in the area of medial border of right sternocleidomastoid muscle at the level of C3 vertebral body front surface. Puncture needle is followed by hydropreparation of the prevertebral fascia to the atlanto-dental joint along the midline. Electrode with diameter of 1.1 mm of a cold-plasma apparatus is introduced through the puncture cannula into the cavity of the atlanto-dental joint. Front, back and side surfaces of the atlanto-dental joint are treated with plasma varying in temperature from 40 °C to 50 °C during 5–10 s per each area.

EFFECT: method provides reducing intra-articular pressure, reducing the length of the rehabilitation period, reducing the length of disability due to low invasiveness.
