SUBSTANCE: invention refers to treating hypercholesterolemia. Disclosed is use of antibody or its antigen-binding fragment, which specifically bind pro-protein envelope of subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) of a human containing three CDRs of a heavy chain: SEQ ID NO: 2, 3 and 4, and three light chain CDRs: SEQ ID NO: 7, 8 and 10, for treating a patient who has hypercholesterolemia and low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) cholesterol level higher than 70 mg/dL, despite treatment by maximal tolerable therapy with statins; and established coronary heart disease (CHD) or equivalent CHD occurrence risks, where one or more initial doses of 75 mg of the antibody or its antigen-binding fragment are administered to a patient and where one or more additional doses of 75 mg of the antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof are administered to the patient approximately every two weeks, if LDL-C level is less than 70 mg/dL; or one or more additional doses of 150 mg of the antibody or its antigen-binding fragment are administered to the patient every two weeks if LDL-C is more than or equal to 70 mg/dl.

EFFECT: invention provides treating hypercholesterinemia, which is resistant to statin therapy.
