FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of treating diseases and disorders associated with high levels of lipids and lipoproteins. Method provides reducing the risk of fatal outcome for any reason in a patient with hypercholesterolemia in need thereof, having a serum LDL-C level greater than or equal to 100 mg/dl, while receiving therapy with maximum tolerable dose of statins and suffered acute coronary syndrome (ACS). A therapeutically effective amount of alirocumab is administered to the patient for at least 3 years.
EFFECT: invention provides a significant reduction in the risk of death in patients with high levels of atherogenic lipoproteins in intensive treatment with statins and suffered ACS.
