SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric power engineering and can be used for remote control of various types of high-voltage equipment in power engineering. Disclosed is a method of detecting and classifying electric discharge on electrical equipment, which determines the presence and type of electric discharge, including with the possibility of detecting partial and corona discharges, by means of remote radio-wave monitoring. Method is implemented using a program-defined radio system with selection of monitoring frequency in a wide range, together with an artificial pre-trained neural network used for data processing and radio reception process control.

EFFECT: technical result is providing remote detection and classification of electric discharge, including on power lines under voltage; at the same time providing, on one hand, the possibility of selecting a monitoring frequency in a wide range, on the other hand, optimizing data processing and controlling the radio reception process using a pre-trained artificial neural network.
