FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for converting a feedstock containing at least ethanol into butadiene and use thereof. Catalyst contains at least tantalum element, at least one aldolysing element selected from a group consisting of calcium, barium and mixtures thereof, and at least one mesoporous oxide matrix, containing at least one oxide of element X selected from silicon, titanium and mixtures thereof. Weight content of tantalum element is from 0.3 % to 10 % of weight of mesoporous oxide matrix, and weight content of aldolysing element ranges from 0.05 % to 4 % of weight of mesoporous oxide matrix. Invention also relates to use of said catalyst for conversion of ethanol to 1,3-butadiene at temperature from 300 °C to 400 °C, pressure from 0.15 to 0.5 MPa, volume rate from 0.5 to 5 h-1.
EFFECT: technical result is longer cycle (maintaining selectivity at an economically acceptable level for a longer period of time).
