FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a one-step process for the production of butadiene by conversion of ethanol or a mixture of ethanol and acetaldehyde to butadiene in the gas phase in the presence of a solid phase catalyst. Process is characterized in that the solid phase catalyst comprises a mesoporous Zr-containing zeolite with a BEA structure containing micropores whose fraction is 0.6–0.9 of the total pore volume, and mesopores, whose fraction is 0.4–0.1 of the total pore volume, and also a metal in the zero oxidation state, selected from the group consisting of silver, copper, gold, or any combination thereof.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to provide high yield of butadiene, process selectivity and high stability of the catalyst.
