FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of arc mechanized surfacing of aluminium alloys in argon medium. Welding is performed by combination of non-consumable and consumable electrodes with formation of common welding bath and periodic pulsed supply of direct action arcs. Arc from non-consumable tungsten electrode is fed by heteropolar current pulses with predominance of direct polarity, and for repeated excitation of arcs there used are high-frequency pulses. Arcs are fed continuously from two power supplies with heteropolar current pulses with pulse frequency of not less than 50 Hz. Ratio of duration of flow of current of direct polarity to non-consumable electrode is selected within 0.8–0.6 of period of the first power supply source, which provides both destruction of aluminium oxide film on article and resistance of electrode. Value of pulses to non-consumable electrode is selected based on maximum allowable currents of direct and reverse polarity in single-arc welding at direct current. Ratio of duration of flow of direct polarity current to melted electrode is selected within 0.8–0.4 of period of the second power supply. This provides higher rate of electrode melting in 1.5…2.0 times compared to reversed polarity arc welding. Average current of pulses to melted electrode is selected according to recommended currents for one-head arc welding of reverse polarity. each of electrodes can be located in front of welding direction.

EFFECT: higher rate of electrode melting.
