FIELD: nuclear physics and equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a converter reactor. Nuclear reactor-converter includes housing (2), reflector (3), active zone, unit of electrogenerating elements (7), capillary-porous insert (5) and unit of switching chambers and collectors (1). Active zone formed by fuel elements (6) is arranged in housing (2). Reflector (3) is installed along outer side surface of housing (2) in area of fuel elements (6). Side surface of fuel elements (6) is coated with a capillary-porous structure. Capillary-porous insert (5) and unit of electrogenerating elements (7) are located inside housing (2). Capillary-porous insert (5) is placed in a gap between the adjacent end parts of the core and the unit of electrogenerating elements (7). Lateral and end face (facing the active zone) of power generating elements (7) are coated with capillary-porous structure. In particular cases of device design, first, capillary-porous insert (5) is made in form of perforated partition, and, secondly, the perforated partition is made in the form of a honeycomb structure with a cell size at least corresponding to the minimum transverse dimension of the electric generating element (7) and fuel element (6).
EFFECT: increasing efficiency of nuclear reactor-converter and increasing its reactivity margin.
