FIELD: perfume industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a perfume composition containing an active candidate component and to a method for determining the degree of stable activity of the active candidate component. Selecting first inactive component in first mixture, wherein the first inactive component is most similar to the odor character with said active candidate component. Selecting second inactive component in said first mixture, wherein second inactive component is most different in nature of odor from said active candidate component. Method comprises obtaining a second mixture, wherein said second mixture is similar to first mixture, except that first inactive component is substituted with isointensive concentration of active candidate component, and the second inactive component is substituted with a known active component from the same odor class as the second inactive component. Intensity of second mixture is estimated, to determine whether the second mixture is significantly more intense than the first mixture. If the second mixture is considerably more intense than the first mixture, then the active candidate component is considered to exhibit stable activity. A perfume composition is obtained which contains said active candidate component by mixing said active candidate component with an odorless solvent.
