FIELD: protection of valuable documents.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to counterfeit protection and validation of valuable documents, in particular to an optical security device, a method of making said device and a method of verifying a protected object comprising said optical protection device. Optical protection device comprises a transparent polarization-optical protective element comprising at least two layers of thin-film linear polarizers uniformly directed in the direction of the optical axis, and at least two optically transparent anisotropic birefringent layers with at least one polarized image formed on each of them and two optically transparent isotropic lacquer layers applied on both sides of the protective element; wherein one of said at least two optically transparent anisotropic birefringent layers is disposed between said layers of thin-film linear polarizers uniformly directed in the direction of the optical axis, and the other of said at least two optically transparent anisotropic birefringent layers is disposed between one of at least two layers of thin-film linear polarizers uniformly directed towards the optical axis and one optically transparent isotropic lacquer layer.
EFFECT: disclosed is an optical security device for valuable documents.
