SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a smart speaker, one of which functions is an audio playback function. Smart speaker with possibility of sound audio content replaying contains TOF-sensor, memory unit, processor, audio content playback unit. Method of smart speaker operation includes stages, at which radiation is generated by means of TOF-sensor. Radiation passes through the radiation detection zone, which is virtually divided into a plurality of series-arranged and adjacent regions. Each of said regions corresponds to its own audio content. When the object is introduced into the detection zone, a signal corresponding to the distance to the said object is formed. Determining in which of the above regions the input object is located. Audio content corresponding to the area in which the object is detected is extracted from the memory unit.

EFFECT: technical result consists in providing the possibility to input commands of smart speaker control during movement of user's hand or control object in space above it.
