FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used for conversion of alternating voltage into variable-value alternating voltage, for example, in development of soft start systems, in various installations using electric AC drive, as well as a reactive power compensator. AC voltage regulator comprises n capacitors, and a group of n controlled bidirectional switches, which are connected to said capacitors, so that n capacitors connected in series, a group of controlled bidirectional switches are divided into two subgroups of unidirectional switches, wherein one subgroup of n – 1 controlled unidirectional switches is connected by cathodes to each other and is connected to one load terminal, and anodes is alternately connected to capacitors leads, starting from the first, remaining output of capacitors is connected to another terminal of load, second subgroup of n – 1 controlled unidirectional switches is connected to each other by anodes and connected to load terminal, to which cathode connection unit of first group is connected, and cathodes are alternately connected to terminals of capacitors starting from the first one. One bidirectional key is connected by one terminal to load in connection unit of both subgroups of unidirectional keys, and by the second output to last capacitor.
EFFECT: disclosed alternating voltage controller has a reduced number of semiconductor devices, and hence, cost of AC voltage controller, as well as increased operation reliability and increased efficiency, as well as reduced weight and size parameters due to elimination from the transformer structure.
