FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: variable voltage zoned regulator relates to electrical engineering and can be used to supply controlled AC motors. Proposed regulator every phase incorporates a chain of n capacitors connected in series, two groups of controlled one-way keys (thyristors or transistors) consisting of n gates, and two groups of n-1 diodes each. Note that one group of n controlled one-way keys connected in series has its extreme key cathode connected to supply circuit phase, and the other extreme key of subgroup anode connected to appropriate load phase. Second group of controlled keys connected in series is connected, by extreme key anode, to the same phase of supply circuit, and, by extreme group cathode, to the same load phase. Note here that diodes of first additional group cathodes are connected to leadouts, between cathodes of second subgroup controlled keys connected in series, and diodes of second additional group have their anodes connected between anodes of controlled keys of first subgroup by leadouts of n capacitors connected in series.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of voltage control of thyristors resulted from reduction of back voltage at thyristors that does not exceed voltage of one section of capacitors connected in series and is not controlled by input voltage, unlike prototype circuit.
