FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing an initial material for making a rare-earth magnet, as well as to an apparatus for producing an initial material for making rare-earth magnets. First, at least one magnetic, respectively magnetized raw material is prepared and milled using traditional methods of grinding into a powder intermediate product, which consists of particles with angles and edges. Then, the sharp edges of the particles are rounded. Resultant rounded particles of the powdered intermediate product have the same size as the finer particles of the powdered intermediate product. They have size of about 2 to 10 mcm, preferably from 3 to 5 mcm. Obtained optimized powdered product consisting of rounded particles is used for making rare-earth magnets.
EFFECT: invention significantly reduces and/or limits the number of sharp angles and edges of powder particles in a powder intermediate product and thereby obtain an optimized raw material for making rare-earth magnets of higher quality.
