FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of powdered rare-earth magnets. Alloy containing at least one rare-earth metal is ground to produce powdery product, at least a portion of the ground product is fed into the cyclone static separator, after which the separated portion is fed into a dynamic separator comprising a sorting rotor. Then the powdered product is sorted by particle size and/or density to produce initial material for making magnets. Obtained material contains not more than 2 vol.% of particles larger than 8 mcm and/or not more than 2 vol.% particles with size less than 2 mcm. Proposed plant comprises grinder, cyclone static separator and dynamic separator with sorting rotor.
EFFECT: optimization of the process of obtaining the initial mixture, reduction of content of particles of undesirable size and improvement of characteristics of the rare-earth magnet.
