SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method of extracting acetic acid from a water stream, wherein the method comprises removing oily contaminants from the aqueous stream to obtain an effluent with low concentration of oily contaminants and removing acetic acid from the effluent by passing the effluent through the membrane separation zone.
EFFECT: according to efficient method yellow oil is removed from water flow before removal of acetic acid by means of reverse osmosis membrane.
