SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a purified aromatic carboxylic acid, involving oxidation of a substituted aromatic compound in a reaction zone to form a crude aromatic carboxylic acid; movement of the effluent from the reaction zone to the crystallisation zone; extracting at least a portion of the crude aromatic carboxylic acid in form of a solid from a crystallisation zone; moving the effluent from the crystallisation zone into a solid and liquid phase separator, which is a rotary filter press configured to operate at pressure higher than atmospheric pressure; mixing the crude solid product from the solid and liquid phase separator and solvent in the mixing zone to form a cleaned reaction mixture, wherein solid product and solvent are fed into mixing zone under pressure higher than atmospheric pressure value; heating the cleaned reaction mixture in the heating zone, wherein the purified reaction mixture contains said crude aromatic carboxylic acid and said solvent, wherein purified reaction mixture is supplied to heating zone under pressure above atmospheric pressure; and purification of the crude aromatic carboxylic acid from the purified reaction mixture in the purification zone to form a purified aromatic carboxylic acid product.
