METHOD OF VERBAL AUDIOMETRY Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B5/12 A61B5/16

Abstract RU 2727581 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to auditology – otorhinolaryngology and can be used in speech audiometry. Speech sound stimuli are presented from test tables and responses are analyzed. Each test table consists of 20 words, often used in modern Russian language. Test table contains 9 nouns, 4 verbs, 4 adjectives and 3 adverbs or 2 adverbs and pronoun or particle, 4 monosyllabic words, 9 two-syllable words and 7 words of three or more syllables. Words of different parts of speech and with different number of syllables alternate. Test table contains words which do not have close semantic connection with each other. Speech stimuli from test tables are presented by headphones in a monaural manner at a comfortable volume level controlled by an audiometer. To assess a comfortable level of perception, the study begins with an intensity determined by adding 30 dB above an audibility threshold of 1,000 Hz. Patient is instructed to repeat each heard word. When recording results for correct answer, only accurate reproduction of all phonemes of heard word by patient is accepted. Upon presentation of the test table, the percentage of correctly reproduced words is calculated.

EFFECT: method enables higher accuracy of speech audiometry results for Russian-speaking patients with normal or disturbed hearing and reduced analysis time.
