SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to dentistry and can be used for prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases of oral cavity, in particular periodontitis. Method involves photodynamic therapy of oral cavity with application of dental gel-photosensitizer on treated areas, held for 8 to 20 minutes and the effect on the treated areas by light radiation with wavelength of 660 nm and emission intensity 5 to 11 mW/cm² by the mouthguard inserted into the mouth. Mouthguard is made of transparent silicone with built-in light-emitting diodes, taking into account features of oral cavity structure of patient, and equipped with connector for connection of power supply source of light-emitting diodes. Gel-photosensitizer consists of chlorophyll extract from 0.3 to 1.0 wt%, an agent for creating liposomal particles comprising photosensitizer particles from 0.5 to 1.5, carbomer – gelling agent from 0.8 to 1.2, glycerol from 2.0 to 3.2, preserving agent – potassium sorbate from 0.01 to 0.1, optionally – to perfume to 0.2, distilled water – up to 100 wt%.

EFFECT: method provides effective, safe treatment of inflammatory diseases of oral cavity due to photodynamic therapy of oral cavity and application of dental gel-photosensitizer on treated areas.
