FIELD: apparatus for processing a stereophonic audio signal.

SUBSTANCE: normalized correlations of the left channel and the right channel with respect to the monophonic version of the sound signal are determined. Differences of long-term correlations are determined on the basis of normalized correlation of left channel and normalized correlation of right channel. Difference of long-term correlations is converted into coefficient β; and left and right channels are mixed to form primary and secondary channels using coefficient β. Coefficient β determines corresponding contributions of left and right channels to formation of primary and secondary channels. Besides, energy of the left and right channels is determined. Long-term energy values of the left channel and the right channel are determined. Energy trends in the left and right channels are determined using the long-term energy values of the left and right channels, respectively.

EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of processing an audio signal.
