FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for determination of management approach to patients with recurrent herpetic keratitis of prolonged course. Structure of an anterior portion of the involved eye is examined by biomicroscopy using a vital stain for the presence or absence of signs of clinical activity. If there are one or more epithelial defects with elevated, cylindrical edges or centers of drainage coloring linear, wavy, rounded or deep ulcerous defect reaching the anterior layers of stroma – 2 points are assigned. If observing no epithelial defects, 0 points are assigned. If observing one or more infiltrates with indistinct edges or local or common edema of corneal stroma – 2 points are assigned. If there are no infiltrates, 0 points are assigned. If available on endothelium precipitates of white or gray color loose consistence in number of three and more pieces – 2 points are assigned. If less than three precipitates are present, 0 points are assigned. If one or more herpes viruses are detected in one or more biological secret by polymerase chain reaction, 1 point is assigned. In the absence of the product, 0 points are assigned. Further, the scores are summarized by all the signs, and if the total score is 3 or more, the active stage of the disease is determined, and an oral therapy is prescribed with nucleoside analogues in doses: Valaciclovir 3 g a day or Famciclovir 1.5 g a day until remission is achieved. If total score is less than 3, stage of reconvalescence is determined, in which oral therapy is prescribed by nucleoside analogues in doses: Valaciclovir – 1.5 g a day or Famciclovir – 750 mg a day, until remission is achieved.
EFFECT: method enables relieving the symptoms of recurrent herpetic keratitis and achieving remission within the given disease.
